Arranging connection

How do I get my electricity connected?

To arrange for the connection of your electricity, call us Monday- Friday 8am-5pm on 8125 9607.

IMPORTANT: If you are moving within the next 3 business days you should call us immediately to avoid delays.

Cancellation

What if I change my mind?

We’re sure you’ll be happy with your decision to connect with us, however if for any reason you’re not, call us on 8125 9607 in the first 10 business days and we’ll cancel your application or transfer you to a more suitable plan.

Connection charges

What is the charge when I get my electricity connected?

Fees apply. If a government, regulator or network distributor varies or introduces a fee, charge or tax, SEPN may pass through all or part of this varied or new fee, charge or tax to you. The charges for network related services, as approved by the Australian Energy Regulator, may include our reasonable costs for arranging such services.

Please note: priority connections will be charged at a higher rate.

Please note a security deposit may be required for new business accounts.

During connection

Do I need to be home when you connect my electricity supply?

If we have clear access to your meter box you don’t need to be there when we connect your electricity.

However if your meters are inside, you have locked gates or dogs that could hinder access to the meter box, you will need to arrange for someone to be at the property to give us safe access to your meters.

Your electricity supply needs to be switched off at the time of connection.

Joint names

How do I organise an electricity connection in joint names?

To organise an electricity connection in joint names call us on (08) 7009 4555 and ensure both customers are available to speak to the operator.

Lead time

How long does it take to arrange a new connection

If you need to connect an existing premises and advise us prior to 3pm on any business day, we will aim to connect you no later than the next business day.

If the premises has not had the electricity connected in the past 6 months or more, a safety inspection by a qualified electrical contractor will be required before connection.

Security deposits & bonds

How will I receive my security deposit refund?

Your energy account will be automatically credited the amount of your security deposit and will appear on your next bill statement. Your refund will appear as “Return of Security Deposit”.

Does SEPN require deposits or bonds for new business connections?

It is SEPN’s policy to request a security against payment of new business electricity accounts. The security is for premises that are used wholly or partly for business where the customer is new or has not established a sufficient credit history with SEPN.

The security will be returned to you when either of the following occurs:

– two years of satisfactory payment of electricity accounts

– electricity is disconnected from your name and all amounts owing to SEPN have been paid.

If I pay SEPN a security deposit, how long will it be held for?

The security will be returned to you together with accrued interest when either of the following occurs:

– two years of satisfactory payment of electricity accounts

– the electricity is disconnected from your name and all amounts owing to SEPN have been paid.
